New Free Collection Planning Workbook for Artists
I’m really pleased to say I have created a little workbook for you!
If you’re someone who always has plenty of ideas but struggles to turn them into a cohesive collection, I made this with you in mind (well I made it for me and decided that it helped me a lot so now I’m sharing it). It guides you through choosing a concept, creating a mood board, planning your motifs and colour palette, and getting all your thoughts organised before you start drawing.
For me, the hardest part is often narrowing down an idea. It’s so easy to want to include everything, but following a simple planning process makes it much easier to choose one direction and stick with it.
Although I designed it with surface pattern designers in mind, it works just as well for illustrators, licensing artists, or anyone planning a creative project.
You can download the free version from my website here:

If you’re a member of my Waxing Moon Patreon tier, you’ll also find an exclusive version there, including a completed example so you can see exactly how I use the workbook myself.
Now that the workbook is finished, over the next few weeks I’ll be documenting the process of creating a brand new collection from start to finish. I’ll be sharing my mood board, sketches, colour palette, design decisions, and all the messy bits in between.
I hope you find it helpful, and I’d love to see what you create with it! 💛
