Hello and Welcome
Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m Lauren, an artist from Cheltenham, UK, and I’m delighted to have you here. Today, I want to introduce myself and give you a glimpse of what’s to come in my future posts.
Let’s go back to 2019 when I was backpacking through Southeast Asia with my now fiancΓ©. Amidst the adventure, I fell ill and discovered my artistic calling during my downtime. Armed with a sketchbook, pencils, and an old iPad Air, I began creating simple doodles and patterns. Who knew being sick could lead to such a creative awakening?

Although insects buzzing around aren’t my favorite, I absolutely adore being outdoors in stunning gardens and going for leisurely walks and I find the countryside very inspiring. As a member of the National Trust, I find endless inspiration in old houses and picturesque gardens nestled in the countryside. Nature’s colors, textures, and whimsical randomness fuel my creativity.

Have you ever been captivated by vintage tins, books, or seemingly insignificant “bits and bobs”? I certainly have! Those mundane artifacts are really interesting to me, and you’ll see subtle hints of nostalgia and yesteryear’s charm in my artwork.
Aside from art, I have a passion for home decor and interior design. I dream of seeing my designs in people’s homes. In fact, I must confess that as a child, the first “book” I remember reading was not a storybook at all but the “homebuyer” section of the local newspaper. It brings me immense joy when friends and family ask me to help them design their living spaces.

In my creative process, I enjoy working with traditional mediums like pencil, watercolor, and gouache. Occasionally, I’ll dabble with acrylic art to keep things interesting. After creating a piece, I fine-tune and edit it on the computer, but sometimes, my trusty iPad is all I need.

What can you expect from my blog? I’ll share works in progress, take you behind the scenes of some of my projects, and provide tips and tricks around planning and organisation (what can I say, I’m a planning and list addict). I expect I’ll include some home decor inspiration in here as well!
Before I go, I encourage you to leave comments, share your thoughts, and say hello. Your engagement brings me pure joy, and I promise I will do a happy dance every time someone says hello!
Until next time,
Lauren x
