Artist Recommendations

Here are the supplies I use to create my artwork. It wasn’t until I wrote this list that I realised how much space in my art cupboard is dedicated to Winsor and Newton.

Art Supplies

Cheap plain paper for scribbles and mind-maps (definitely nothing precious, I want to feel like I can sketch out a load of ideas and not waste expensive paper)

Watercolour paper – hot press and cold press, usually ‘The Langton’ but I also use Cass Art own brand, and Daler Rowney

Thick Cartridge Paper (for painting Gouache)- Daler Rowny

Paint brushes – Cass Art own brand acrylic brushes, Winsor and Newton Cotman acrylic brushes, Winsor and Newton watercolour brushes, Princeton Watercolour brushes.

Watercolours – usually Winsor and Newton, I also have a couple of Gansai Tambi Kuretake metallics and maybe a few Sennelier tubes (fancy 😏).

Gouache – Winsor and Newton

Acrylic paint – Winsor and Newton

Ink – Winsor and Newton

Digital Illustration Tools

iPad Pro 12.9 inch

Apple Pencil & spare nibs, and a Paperlike screen protector

Dell laptop, basic mouse, very large monitor

Digital Illustration Software

Procreate: Procreate is an amazing drawing app and it is what I use to do most of my illustrations that you see on my Instagram. In my opinion it is worth paying for the premium version.

Adobe Creative Suite: There are some limitations when using Procreate, particularly in terms of size and layers, so I also use some Adobe apps.

Adobe Photoshop – for creating repeat patterns

Adobe Illustrator- – for creating vector illustrations and patterns

Skillshare

To learn how to use these techy things, like Procreate, and the Adobe apps, I have taken many classes on Skillshare. There are many amazing teachers on Skillshare I highly recommend you go and check it out. It has many classes on illustration, pattern design, film editing, productivity etc.
